Additional Information: This dark brown wooden box reflects the ritual practices of the Ifugao and was likely created for use by a priest during agricultural ceremonies. Its compact form is distinguished by two circular elements set into the lid and by animal heads carved along the sides, each with an elongated snout and rounded ears that lend the piece a quiet, watchful character. Such containers once held objects connected to the care of the rice fields and were brought out during the harvest rites that structured communal life.

In traditional use, the blood of a sacrificial chicken was allowed to fall across the surface of the box, gradually building a dark patina that signaled long service in ritual settings. The present example echoes that history, offering a glimpse into the enduring symbolic world of Ifugao agriculture and devotion.
