Competitive bidding, managed from start to finish
Selling valuable property on your own is slow and uncertain. At auction, qualified bidders compete in the open, and our team handles the cataloging, photography, marketing, sale, and settlement.

How an auction works
Complimentary consultation
Send photos through our form or call us. A specialist tells you whether auction is the right route, which sale your property belongs in, and how we would sell it.
Agreement
We explain our terms in writing and agree on any reserves before the sale.
Catalog and photograph
Our team catalogs and photographs every lot so bidders know exactly what they are buying.
Marketing
We promote the sale online, on social media, by email, and through traditional channels to reach the right buyers.
Auction day
Bidding is open and transparent, in the gallery and online, so the market sets the price.
Settlement
We handle buyer payments and shipping, then send you a detailed settlement and payment, typically within 30 days.

Questions about selling at auction
Which kind of auction is right for my property?
It depends on what you are selling and who buys it. Live and simulcast sales suit special collections and events; online auctions reach bidders anywhere. We recommend a format after we see your items.
Where do you hold auctions?
Our gallery is at 2500 Church Street in Norfolk, Virginia. Online auctions are open to bidders anywhere, and we accept consignments nationwide.
What does it cost to sell at auction?
Our commission is deducted from the hammer price after the sale, and terms depend on the type and value of what you are selling. We explain the commission and any other charges in writing before you consign.
How and when do I get paid?
After the auction you receive a settlement statement showing what each lot sold for and any agreed fees. Payment is typically issued within 30 days of the auction closing, once the buyer’s payment has cleared.
Can I set a minimum price?
Yes, on certain items. A reserve is the lowest price you will accept, agreed with us before the auction. If bidding does not reach it, the item does not sell.
What happens after the auction?
We collect payment from buyers and arrange pick-up or shipping, including white-glove service for fragile and high-value pieces. You receive a settlement statement and payment.
Request a complimentary consultation
Tell us about the item, collection, or estate you are thinking of selling, and add a few photos. A specialist will look at what you have, tell you whether auction is the right route and which sale it belongs in, and recommend the next step.
