Consignment Guidelines: What We Accept

What Blue Box Auction Gallery accepts for auction, what we cannot, the minimum value per lot, and how consigning works from the first photos to payment.

These guidelines help you decide whether your items are a good fit for auction with Blue Box Auction Gallery, so you can save time and get off to a smooth start.

What we accept

  • Fine art and antiques: paintings, sculpture, decorative arts, and period furniture.
  • Coins, jewelry, and precious metals: numismatic coins, bullion, fine jewelry, and gemstones.
  • Collections and memorabilia: sports collectibles, pop culture, and historical memorabilia.
  • Real estate: marketable properties with clear title.
  • Specialty and high-value items: rare artifacts, luxury goods, and investment-grade collectibles.

What we cannot accept

  • Low-value reproductions, or items damaged beyond repair
  • Items prohibited by law
  • Hazardous materials, or very large items without our approval in advance
  • Ungraded error coins
  • Common modern U.S. coins

Minimum values

As a general guide, each lot should be worth $100 or more. For real estate, we sell marketable properties with clear title. For coins and jewelry, we look for authentic pieces with established market demand.

How consigning works

  1. Send photos and a short description with our complimentary estimate form.
  2. We review what you sent and contact you to arrange a consultation.
  3. We evaluate your items and agree on terms with you. Fees depend on the type and value of what you are selling, and we explain them before you consign.
  4. We catalog, photograph, and market your items to bidders.
  5. Items are typically auctioned within four to eight weeks of consignment, depending on the auction schedule and what gets the best result for you.
  6. After the auction you receive a settlement statement, and payment is typically issued within 30 days of the auction closing.

You can set a reserve on certain items: the lowest price you will accept, agreed with us before the auction. If bidding does not reach it, the item does not sell.
