Additional Description: The 1868 Copper 2 Cent coin is an early United States fractional currency coin issued shortly after the Civil War to address the shortage of small change. Struck in bronze (95% copper, 5% tin and zinc), it features a shield on the obverse with the inscription “IN GOD WE TRUST,” one of the first U.S. coins to carry this motto.
