Additional Information: Decorative antique Swedish wedding box, or brudkista, featuring a domed lid, extensive hand applied iron strapwork, wrought style rivets, central ring pull, and large lock plate. Constructed of wood with iron reinforcement throughout, the compact form is characteristic of personal valuables, marriage documents, jewelry, coins, and treasured household possessions. Interior has been refinished with fresh black velvet. Retains original key. The chest exhibits a rich aged patina to both the wood and ironwork. An attractive display piece for collectors of Scandinavian antiques, primitive furnishings, folk art, and early European decorative pieces.
