Additional Description: The 1894 Silver Morgan Dollar from the New Orleans Mint is a particularly scarce and historically significant issue within the Morgan series. George T. Morgan’s classic design portrays Liberty in profile, her hair crowned with wheat and cotton, symbols of the nation’s agricultural and industrial strength. On the reverse, the American eagle stands with wings outstretched, clutching arrows and an olive branch to signify both resolve and peace.

The O mintmark beneath the wreath identifies its origin at the New Orleans Mint, a facility whose output often varied in quality and quantity depending on the nation’s shifting silver policies. Struck in 90 percent silver and 10 percent copper, this issue had a notably low mintage, making it one of the more elusive branch-mint Morgans.

The 1894 New Orleans Dollar are rare and highly prized, for their connection to a turbulent period in U.S. monetary history. Each surviving coin offers a tangible link to the artistry and uncertainty of America’s late nineteenth-century silver era.
