Additional Description: Struck in 1924 at the Philadelphia Mint, this twenty-dollar gold piece features the celebrated Saint-Gaudens design, widely considered the finest in U.S. coinage. Commissioned by President Theodore Roosevelt and sculpted by Augustus Saint-Gaudens, the obverse shows a boldly striding Liberty, while the reverse features a majestic eagle in flight. This example, believed to grade Fine, shows moderate wear with softened detail, particularly in Liberty’s figure and the eagle’s wings. Despite its circulated condition, it remains a significant artifact from a period of abundant gold coinage, just before the 1933 recall ended their use in commerce.
