Additional Information: 19th/Early 20th Century Fijian wood spur-headed Kiakavo war/dance club also know as a “gata” or “gata waka.” It is made of a dark red hardwood. The club has a forked head with a carved rough edge and smooth edge. Overall the base is a long, smooth surface. Used in pre-battle ceremonies as the size, weight and girth of this club would not be practical for battle.
Reportedly, 1880-1890 Provenance: Wayne Heathcote, London, Miami.
