Description: A Chinese bronze gold gilded Ksitigarbha Buddha sculpture, a revered figure in Mahayana Buddhism. Ksitigarbha means earth treasury, earth store, or earth womb, and known for his vow to help and deliver all beings, especially those suffering in hell realms. He is also the guardian of children and deceased children, as well as the savior of the oppressed and dying. The buddha is depicted wearing royal garments including a crown sitting on a double lotus throne with a decorative back that frames Ksitigarbha. He is one of the four great Buddha’s in Mahayana Buddhism. He vowed to not achieve Buddhahood until all hells were empty and all beings were saved.
