Mallet Bottle from 18th Century

Item Description

Dimensions: Approx 3 1/2x3 1/2x9 3/4"

Condition: Contains Scratches, Hairline Cracks, and Chipping

Additional Information: This turn-mold black glass liquor bottle is a fine example of utilitarian glassmaking. Produced using the turn-mold process, the bottle exhibits a smooth, glossy surface with subtle horizontal striations created as the molten glass was rotated within the mold during manufacture. Its deep olive-black coloration, often referred to as "black glass," was commonly used for spirits and other light-sensitive contents, helping to protect the bottle's contents while providing a distinctive appearance.
