Additional Information: Rare and highly collectible issue of National Geographic Society magazine, Vol. I No. 1, published October 1888, believed to be as stated on the magazine. This historic publication marks the beginning of one of the world’s most recognized exploration and science publications. Featuring the brown/red brick colored paper covers and early scholarly geographic writings, this issue predates the iconic yellow border and reflects the publication’s earliest academic format. The issue was printed just months after the Society’s founding and is considered a cornerstone piece for collectors of Americana, exploration history, and vintage periodicals. Some internal pages remain uncut at the top and side edges. Even with the visible repairs this is still an amazing piece of publishing history.
