Dimensions: Various

Condition: Age related surface wear, minor imperfections, and variations in finish. Several pieces retain original manufacturer labels, certificates, or hangtags. No major damage is apparent.

Additional Information: Collection of eight vintage dentist themed ceramic and porcelain figures dating primarily from the 1960s through 1980s and representing American, Italian, and Japanese manufacture.

Included are:

  1. Sara Meadows “Balloon People” Dentist, hand built ceramic/stoneware, incised Meadows and dated 1978.

  2. Unidentified Studio Pottery Dentist and Patient, hand modeled ceramic tooth extraction scene depicting a dentist working on a seated patient. Unmarked; maker and country of origin unknown.

  3. Attributed to Lefton #7900 Dentist, bisque porcelain figure depicting a dentist or doctor standing beside a cabinet. Original manufacturer label is no longer present, so the attribution to Lefton is based upon comparison with documented model #7900.

  4. The Toscany Collection “Hurt Tooth” Dentist Clown, hand painted porcelain, retaining its manufacturer identification. 

  5. T.P. Ceramiche / Poli Dentist Figure, Italian hand painted ceramic caricature, signed Poli and retaining its original Certificato d’Origine / Made in Italy / Ceramica eseguita a mano tag.

  6. T.P. Ceramiche / Poli Dentist with Oversized Dental Tool, companion Italian ceramic figure, also signed Poli and retaining its original certificate/tag.

  7. Bencini #071 “Dentist & Patient,” hand made Italian ceramic figural group, signed Bencini Italy and retaining its original factory hangtag identifying model 071 DENTIST & PATIENT.

  8. Arnart Art Sculptures Collector’s Edition Dentist and Patient, porcelain occupational figure retaining its original Arnart certificate. Arnart was a New York importer associated with Japanese decorative porcelain during this period.

An unusual assembled collection of vintage occupational figurines centered entirely on dentistry, ranging from humorous caricatures to more traditional dentist and patient compositions.
