Travis Hoover (1917–2004) was an American military aviator who earned his pilot wings in 1940 and became a B-25 Mitchell pilot. He was selected for the Doolittle Raid and served as pilot of Crew No. 2, flying B-25B No. 40-2292. Hoover was the second aircraft to take off from the aircraft carrier USS Hornet on April 18, 1942, during the raid against Japan. His crew bombed Tokyo before flying toward China, where the aircraft was forced to crash-land in Japanese-occupied territory.

Hoover subsequently flew combat missions in B-25 Mitchell and B-24 Liberator bombers and P-38 Lightning fighters in the Mediterranean and European theaters. He remained in military service after World War II and ultimately retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1969 with the rank of Colonel. His decorations included the Distinguished Flying Cross, Silver Star, Legion of Merit, and Air Medal.
