About this lot

Origin: Peru

Metal: Silver Overlay on Copper

Dimensions: Approx. 2.75 x 2.75 in.

Weight: Approx. 1.07 ozt

Condition: Some tarnish and light scratches.

Additional Information: This vintage Peruvian artisan-crafted circular brooch features a raised llama motif centered against a textured, mottled turquoise-colored copper background, surrounded by traditional Andean geometric and Inca-inspired scrollwork. The design is believed to incorporate .925 sterling silver accents over a copper base, a mixed-metal technique commonly associated with mid-20th-century Peruvian folk art jewelry. The contrasting metals and naturally darkened patina highlight the handcrafted character of the piece while reflecting the rich artistic traditions of the Andes. Although the brooch bears no maker’s marks or metal stamps, it has acid tested positive for .925 sterling silver.
