About this lot

Origin: Peru

Metal: Silver Overlay on Copper

Dimensions: Approx. 2.75 x 2.75 in.

Weight: Approx. 2.13 ozt

Condition: Some tarnish and light scratches.

Additional Information: This vintage Peruvian artisan-crafted brooch/pendant features a handcrafted mixed-metal design with sterling silver overlay on a hammered copper disk, showcasing a central ceremonial tumi knife and a stylized Andean deity figure. Surrounded by traditional stepped geometric border motifs, the piece reflects the distinctive Inca-inspired designs that became popular in Peruvian folk art jewelry during the mid-20th century. The textured hammered copper background provides a striking contrast to the raised sterling silver overlay, emphasizing the intricate handcrafted details. Designed for versatile wear, the piece functions as both a brooch and pendant and is currently suspended from a chain. Although it bears no maker’s marks or metal stamps, the silver overlay and chain has acid tested positive for .925 sterling silver.
