Additional Description: Struck at the Philadelphia Mint in 1908, this two-and-a-half dollar Indian Head gold coin marks the first year of Bela Lyon Pratt’s revolutionary incuse design, a bold departure from the raised relief that had long defined U.S. coinage. The obverse portrays a male Native American in profile, his feathered headdress rendered with quiet strength and sculptural subtlety. On the reverse, a standing eagle rests upon a bundle of arrows and an olive branch, a pairing that conveys both vigilance and peace. Believed to grade Very Fine, the coin displays moderate, even wear, yet retains strong detail in the portrait and reverse motifs.
