Condition: Natural material shows some cracking with a section of the blue and red area near the nose and mouth is flaked off and missing as well as in the white section on the top. One or two side branches are shorter possibly from breaking off from age. Cracked and fragile.

Additional Information: This is a ceremonial initiation mask. This tribal mask is likely from Vanuatu, and it has a pointed shape that uses natural materials and vibrant colors. Featuring a dark possibly wooden or bark cloth with the upper section adorned with white painted patterns resembling bones or tribal markings. The bottom portion of the face is painted blue and red that highlight the nose and mouth which are made from lighter colored wood or plant material in a raised or relief texture giving a 3-dimensional appearance. Sticks or small branches protrude from the sides giving additional rustic and tribal aesthetic.
