Origin: Pre-Columbian Peru Inca canopa 1000-1350 AD and Lombook, Indonesia

Dimensions: The nut bettle measures 1×0.125×4 in. 

Condition: The nut bettle has some rusting and wear and the conopa has some pock marks in the stone and dirt wear

Additional Information: Includes a llama or Alpaca effigy of a canopa. It has a rounded shape with a hole at the top, and has a carved llamas head. It is carved from dark green chrysocolla in the form of an alpaca or llama.

Used for burning tallow or organic material in sacrifices to the gods. Llamas were sacred and were often sacrificed in rituals. Effigies might have been used in ceremonies or as offerings. Llamas were crucial for transportation, providing wool, meat, and more. They were often buried with the dead, representing the Inca’s connection to the animal. 

Also includes a betal nut cutter in with the shape of a birds head at the top. The betel nut cutter is from Lombok, Indonesia and dates to the mid-20th c.
