Additional Description: U.S. quarters from the early 1900s through 1964 reflect over six decades of evolving American coinage and history. Early 1900s issues featured the Barber design, formal and restrained, suited to a nation entering the modern age. By 1942, the Washington quarter—introduced in 1932—had become standard, with coins from 1942, 1946, and 1950 circulating during war and postwar recovery. Quarters from 1952, 1954, 1956, 1961, and 1963–1964 mark the last phase of silver coinage, struck in 90% silver before the transition to clad in 1965.
