Additional Description: The 1904 Liberty Head Double Eagle marks the final full year of production for this long-standing design at the Philadelphia Mint. Struck from .900 fine gold and designed by James B. Longacre, it features Liberty in profile, crowned with a simple coronet inscribed LIBERTY, surrounded by thirteen stars. The reverse displays a heraldic eagle beneath a halo of stars, clutching arrows and an olive branch—symbols of military readiness and peace.

Produced in large quantities, the 1904 issue is among the most available of the Liberty Double Eagles, often found in well-preserved condition due to limited circulation and later recoveries from bank hoards and overseas shipments. As a result, it is frequently chosen by collectors seeking an accessible example of pre-1907 U.S. gold coinage.
