Additional Description:  The 1922 and 1923 Peace Dollars represent the first full-scale production years of the series and reflect both technical refinement and the evolving symbolism of postwar American coinage. Following the high-relief 1921 debut, the design by Anthony de Francisci was modified to a lower relief in 1922 to accommodate mass production demands. As a result, both 1922 and 1923 saw enormous mintages—among the highest in the series—struck across the Philadelphia, Denver, and San Francisco mints. While abundant, these coins retain their numismatic significance as the first widely circulated silver dollars bearing the image of peace rather than war. Liberty’s profile remains serene and forward-facing, framed by radiant spikes reminiscent of classical ideals, while the eagle on the reverse rests calmly atop a mountaintop, clutching an olive branch—no longer a symbol of conquest, but of resolution.
