Additional Information: This lot features a pair of vintage La Porte Woolen Mills fabric sample boxes from the Spring 1926 season. Established in 1864, La Porte Woolen Mills produced high-quality textiles that were marketed to tailors and clothiers throughout the United States. These green salesman sample boxes are filled with an assortment of fabric swatches in a variety of colors, weaves, and patterns, allowing customers to view and select materials for custom garments. Representing an important piece of early twentieth-century textile and tailoring history, the boxes illustrate the methods used by traveling salesmen and merchants to showcase seasonal fabric collections.
