Item Description
Manufacturer: Keystone Manufacturing Company
Period: Late 1800s to early 1900s
Dimensions: 13 x 12 1/2 x 11 1/4 in.
Condition: Heavy age appropriate wear, wood grain weathering, paint loss, edge scuffing, minor oxidation on latch. The box is intact, some wood splitting, the lid is detached. There is wood splitting on the bottom with a small hole. Stenciling legible.
Additional Information: Used as a seed compartment during field planting on a horse-drawn agricultural planter. The box kept seeds dry from unexpected raining and the latch secured the seed against birds and rodents.
