Additional Description: The 1882 Morgan Silver Dollar struck at the Carson City Mint is a highly desirable issue, admired for its low mintage, strong strikes, and rich historical context. Bearing the distinctive “CC” mint mark beneath the wreath on the reverse, it was produced in comparatively limited numbers, just 1,133,000 coins, making it a key piece for collectors of Western U.S. mint coinage.

The Carson City Mint, located near Nevada’s Comstock Lode, was central to the federal government’s effort to turn locally mined silver into coinage under the Bland-Allison Act. The 1882-CC Morgan Dollar is part of this legacy, reflecting both the regional importance of the mint and its relatively brief operational span, which ended a few years later in 1893.

Designed by George T. Morgan, the obverse features the familiar profile of Liberty wearing a Phrygian cap adorned with wheat and cotton, symbols of liberty and agricultural prosperity. The reverse shows a bold eagle clutching arrows and an olive branch, framed by the inscriptions “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA” and “ONE DOLLAR.”
