Additional Description: The 1882 Morgan Silver Dollar from the Philadelphia Mint is a classic mid-series issue, struck during a time of steady silver dollar production under the mandates of the Bland-Allison Act.

Designed by George T. Morgan, the obverse features a left-facing portrait of Liberty, modeled with classical elements but rooted in an American identity. The reverse presents a stately eagle with wings spread, clutching arrows and an olive branch, a design meant to embody both strength and peace.

Struck in 90% silver and 10% copper, the 1882 issue continued the U.S. government’s effort to convert massive silver purchases into coinage, much of which remained in Treasury vaults for decades.
