Additional Description: The 1882 Morgan Silver Dollar struck at the San Francisco Mint is a standout issue known for its exceptional strike quality and visual appeal. Marked with an “S” beneath the wreath on the reverse, this coin reflects the San Francisco Mint’s reputation for precision and craftsmanship during the height of silver dollar production under the Bland-Allison Act.

The 1882-S is not rare in terms of quantity. However, it is widely recognized for the consistency of its strike, Liberty’s hair, the eagle’s breast feathers, and other high points are often rendered in sharp detail, and the luster tends to be satiny and well-preserved.

As with all Morgans, the design by George T. Morgan features the allegorical Liberty in profile on the obverse, crowned with cotton and wheat, symbols of America’s agricultural strength. The reverse depicts a heraldic eagle clutching arrows and an olive branch, framed by inscriptions that affirm the coin’s national and monetary identity.
