Additional Information: A Fofana shell male breast plate made out of dyed bush fiber and sewn nassa shells and large cowrie shells. Theses ornaments were woven by women & given to young men after their initiation. They were worn on the chest or back, and would be held in between teeth during battle. The Fofana served as bride price in marriage transactions, showcasing the value of the man and his family.
