Additional Information: A Sassi hand carved wood clan bowl in a elongated pointed end canoe shape made out of hardwood and then blackened. The inside of the bowl is smooth while the bottom and outer sides are carved with masked faces which are their ancestors, stylized animals, horns, designs, and a cross with a rounded pattern. The religious cross shows the missionary influence.

The bowls are known for their distinctive shape and carvings and are used for feast, ceremonies, and trade. The bowl is a cultural and economical piece to the Sassi people. The Sassi bowl is dated back the late 19th century, Pre WWII.
