Condition: Wear throughout each of the bamboo pieces and the base, and some pigment has worn away.

Description: A Chinese or Japanese Sho or Shen Mouth organ crafted out of carved wood and bamboo shoots. Multiple shoots are aligned in a rounded shape with holes on the bottom and reeds attached within holes on a rounded base with one hole mouth piece. The base has some red and black paint still intact. It produces a soft, harmonized sound. The instrument is commonly used in traditional Gagaku court music in Japan.
