Condition: Cast iron with black painted or aged finish. Paint is chipping and metal has patina.

Additional Information: Collection of eight antique and vintage cast iron trivets, each designed as a footed stand for protecting tables and counters from hot cookware, smoothing irons, and other heated objects. The group features heavy black cast iron construction with varied openwork geometric, floral, figural, and ornamental designs.

Included is a Virginia Metalcrafters for Colonial Williamsburg “King George” cipher trivet, model CW 10-9, featuring an ornate “GR” monogram for Georgius Rex. The underside is marked “WILLIAMSBURG,” “CW10-9 KING GEORGE,” together with the Virginia Metalcrafters hallmark.

Also included is a figural cast iron trivet marked “J.Z.H.” with a date of 1948. This example features winged cherub or Cupid figures holding a wreath, with a colonial-style gentleman forming the handle.

The remaining trivets include examples with openwork lace-like patterns, floral ornament, and pointed sad-iron forms with small handles. The collection represents different styles of decorative cast iron trivet tradition.
