Condition: There is some wear in the wood and natural splitting on the bottom portion

Additional Information: A hand carved wood staff made by the Chancay people of Peru. The carving is of a stylized traditional figure in a seated position with a hat and angled facial features. Details of the toes, fingers, and ears are carved into the figure. The shaft is smooth with a pointed bottom. May have been a litter pole used by the Pre-Columbian Chancay to carry nobles.

Reportedly the provenance is Howard Rose/ Arte Primitivo, NY.
