Conditions:  Some of the paint has worn away and the wood has some cracks. The grass strap is in two pieces.

Additional Information: A kidney shaped Lumi area wood war shield near the Torricelli mountains in northwestern Paupa New Guinea, west Sepik province. There is a deeply carved non-representational design. There are grass loops in man made holes that go to the back of the shield creating a strap and handles. The dark textures patina was used often in this region.
