This sculpture was likely hand-crafted by skilled artisans of Nepal out of copper alloy. It depicts Tara in a seated lotus position with one leg extended, ready to help those in need. The hands are posed in Varada mudra, or gift-giving positions. And one hand holds the stem of a lotus flower, representing purity and enlightenment.
