Condition: All are in various conditions with paint loss, scratches, and light ware. 

Additional Information: The Hakata doll sitting with a samurai sword in his hip has loss around the edge of the robe and a repair was done to the sword. On the bottom is a “Made in Japan” stamp as well as two manufacture stickers. The Hakata doll in the red vest has small chips missing around his pants. The Hakata doll sitting and drinking has a “Made in Japan” stamp on the bottom of it as well as handwriting. The sitting Hakata doll holding a teapot and cup has repairs on both arms and is missing the spout on the teapot. 

Hakata dolls are traditional Japanese clay dolls from the Hakata region of Fukuoka, Japan. The dolls are typically made of clay and hand painted. Hakata dolls date back over 400 years, becoming a significant craft in the Fukuoka region. Often portrays figures from daily life, folklore, or theater. They reflect Japanese life and culture and are often given as gifts or souvenirs. Hakata dolls gained popularity in the United States during and after WWII as service members returning from Japan would bring them home as souvenirs.
