Additional Description:  The 1922 Peace Dollar marks a pivotal moment in the series’ evolution, both artistically and mechanically. Following the limited high-relief issues of 1921, the design by Anthony de Francisci was reworked in 1922 to accommodate the practical demands of large-scale production. The relief was significantly lowered, sacrificing some of the original depth and texture in order to extend die life and ensure more efficient minting. As a result, 1922 became the most heavily struck year of the entire series, with over 84 million coins produced across the Philadelphia, Denver, and San Francisco Mints.
