Lowney's Chocolates Advertising Wooden Crate Cart

Item Description

Year: Early 20th Century

Dimensions: 41 x 12 1/2 x 19 1/2 in.

Condition: The display bin exhibits an aged patina with surface wear, scratches, scuffs, and finish loss consistent with age and use. The original "Lowney's Chocolates Name on Every Piece" stencil remains bold and legible. The wood shows typical splits and imperfections, with moderate wear to the corners and edges. Mounted on casters, which are present but difficult to roll.

Additional Description: This lot features an antique wooden shipping crate for Lowney's Chocolates, displaying black stenciled advertising on the sides, including the company's well-known slogan, "Name on Every Piece." Dating to the early twentieth century, the crate was originally used for transporting and storing confectionery products. It has since been mounted on wheels, allowing it to be easily moved and repurposed as a functional storage box, cart, or decorative statement piece. Combining commercial advertising with rustic craftsmanship, this crate reflects the history of one of America's notable chocolate manufacturers and offers an attractive example of early advertising and country store memorabilia.
