About this lot

Country of Origin: South Korea

Style: Goryeo Revival, Sanggam, Craquelure

Dimensions: Approx. 13 x 10 in.

Condition: No Visible Flaws

Additional Information: Vintage Korean celadon double gourd ewer featuring a long curved spout, loop handle, fitted stopper, and traditional crane-and-cloud decoration.

The pale green glaze has pronounced allover crackle, or craquelure, characteristic of this type of Goryeo revival celadon. The decoration appears to use a sanggam style inlay technique, with white cranes and cloud forms accented by fine dark details and circular medallions.

The underside has an unglazed reddish-brown foot ring with a faint two-character underglaze Hanja maker’s mark obscured by heavy crackle. Possibly Haegang, but presently unattributed.
