Additional Information: Original 1887 Vanity Fair chromolithograph by Liborio Prosperi, known professionally as “Lib,” depicting the celebrated Tattersall’s bloodstock sale at Newmarket. The composition shows a horse being presented before a large gathering of prominent figures from British racing and aristocratic society, including the future King Edward VII and other notable owners, sportsmen, and members of the peerage.

This is one of Prosperi’s larger multi figure sporting compositions and was issued as a double page plate in Vanity Fair on December 6, 1887. The print retains the original “NEWMARKET” and “TATTERSALL’S 1887” captions, Prosperi’s “Lib” signature, and the Vincent Brooks, Day & Son lithographer credit.

A desirable original Victorian sporting print with strong interest to collectors of horse racing, British social history, Vanity Fair caricatures, and 19th century chromolithography.
