About this lot

Country of Origin: United States

Period: Late Victorian, circa 1870–1900

Material: Walnut wood with gilt tone oval inner liners, glass, wood backing boards, and metal hanging hardware

Dimensions:  Approx. 13 x 12 x 1 1/2 in.

Condition:  Age and Finish Wear Throughout

Additional Information: Matched group of four antique Victorian oval walnut picture frames, dating to the late 19th century. Each features a substantial dark walnut/wood molded outer frame surrounding a narrow gilt-tone oval liner, creating the classic deep profile presentation associated with Victorian portrait and photographic framing.

The reverse construction includes fitted multi piece wooden backing boards retained with nails/tacks and early style metal hanging hardware and wire. The aged wood, construction, hardware, molded profiles, and gilt inner surrounds are consistent with late 19th century Victorian manufacture, approximately 1870–1900. The frames show varying degrees of age related joint separation and finish wear but retain considerable original character.
