Period: 1891–1912

Manufacturer: Mintons

Medium: Porcelain

Dimensions: Approx. 4 x 3 x 7 in. (each)

Additional Information: Pair of late 19th- to early 20th-century English Mintons porcelain twin-handled pedestal vases in a vivid bleu céleste or turquoise ground with extensive gilt decoration. The globular or baluster-form bodies rise from footed pedestal bases to waisted necks with flared rims, and each vase is fitted with ornate scrolling gilt handles.

The bodies feature elaborate raised and painted gilt rococo-style foliate scrollwork arranged symmetrically across the turquoise craquelure ground. A contrasting deep cobalt blue and gilt band encircles the neck, incorporating geometric and dotted ornament. The rims and pedestal feet are accented with additional gold bands and decorative detailing.

The underside bears the Mintons crowned-globe mark with “MINTONS ENGLAND,” a mark used by the firm from approximately 1891 to 1912. The additional red handwritten factory marking numbers 09636 are consistent with the pattern, decorator, or production numbering found on Mintons wares.
