Origin: Pre-Columbian Moche, Peru 100-1400 AD 

Dimensions: 4.5×6.5×8 in. 

Condition: The flute instrument is cracked and broken. Some of the paint is worn in some spots. 

Additional Information: A Moche Ceramic Stirrup Spout Vessel depicting a Musician playing a flute instrument. The male figure is seated and wears a red cap, and a checkered painted cloak and large round earrings. The figures face is hand-molded detail and structure and the piece is painted dark orange and red. The vessel has a rounded spout and handle in the back. The bottom has writing and numbers written on the bottom from past marking and tracking. 

The vessel may have been used for rituals or as a funerary offering, or to hold liquids such as maize beer. Moche pottery is known for is naturalism and depictions of daily life and beliefs. 

Provenance is reportedly Arte Xibalba, Osprey/Sarasota, FL.
