Dimensions: One of the largest dolls with a seated cow measure 8.5x8x5 in. 

Condition: Light wear and scuffs on each. The little boy with the dog figurine has its hand broken off. 

Additional Information: An assortment of traditional Japanese Hakata dolls made from fired and painted unglazed clay. These dolls are known for their soft colors and realistic expressions. 

Two figures are seated with cows and the men have a pipe or stick in their mouth. Also includes two seated men with long white beards seated with pet deer, one figure is larger than the other. 

Also includes a porcelain doll of a little boy kneeling, and other male figures with animals. Some figurines are stamped “Made in Japan” on the bottom. 

Hakata dolls are traditional Japanese clay dolls from the Hakata region of Fukuoka, Japan. The dolls are typically made of clay and hand painted. Hakata dolls date back over 400 years, becoming a significant craft in the Fukuoka region. Often portrays figures from daily life, folklore, or theater. They reflect Japanese life and culture and are often given as gifts or souvenirs. Hakata dolls gained popularity in the United States during and after WWII as service members returning from Japan would bring them home as souvenirs.
