Dimensions: The largest dolls of the mother’s with a baby each measure 6.5x5x9.5 in. 

Condition: Light wear and scuffs on each. One child is missing an accessory in its hand. Some have chips of paint missing. 

Additional Information: An assortment of traditional Japanese Hakata dolls made from fired and painted unglazed clay. These dolls are known for their soft colors and realistic expressions. 

Includes Hakata dolls of mother’s seated on rocks with their baby. Two dolls show grandmothers with little girls either crafting a sandal or one looks to do the grandmothers hair. 

Also includes two kneeling grandmothers with bowls. And includes four assorted Hakata doll children, one is on a swing, two are standing, one missing its base, and one doll is of a girl holding a baby and she is connected to a wooden base, and can come off easily. 

Hakata dolls are traditional Japanese clay dolls from the Hakata region of Fukuoka, Japan. The dolls are typically made of clay and hand painted. Hakata dolls date back over 400 years, becoming a significant craft in the Fukuoka region. Often portrays figures from daily life, folklore, or theater. They reflect Japanese life and culture and are often given as gifts or souvenirs. Hakata dolls gained popularity in the United States during and after WWII as service members returning from Japan would bring them home as souvenirs.
