Condition: All are in various conditions with paint loss, scratches, and light ware. 

Additional Information: The Buddha Hakata wearing a black robe and green sash has two stickers on the bottom that say “Made in Japan, Washable Patent” and “Sato Hakata Doll Co., Hakata Japan”. His staff appears to have had a repair. The Buddha wearing a black and purple robe appears to be missing his staff in his right hand, a repair was made on the item he is holding, a sticker on the bottom reading “Hakata Mimasu Dolls, Japan”, and has a crack in his green sash. The Buddha Hakata doll also wearing a black, purple, and green robe is missing his staff. On the bottom, the stamp reads “Washable Color Paint, Patent. No.247570. Made in Japan.” The Buddha Hakata wearing white has a sticker on the bottom that reads “Hakata Mimasu Dolls, Japan”.

Hakata dolls are traditional Japanese clay dolls from the Hakata region of Fukuoka, Japan. The dolls are typically made of clay and hand painted. Hakata dolls date back over 400 years, becoming a significant craft in the Fukuoka region. Often portrays figures from daily life, folklore, or theater. They reflect Japanese life and culture and are often given as gifts or souvenirs. Hakata dolls gained popularity in the United States during and after WWII as service members returning from Japan would bring them home as souvenirs.
