Dating from the 1940s through the 1960s, the photographs capture the celebrated American author in candid moments, including dining out, enjoying a drink, and reading. Each photograph is stamped on the reverse with Dino Jarach's copyright mark and the location where the image was taken. Also included is an Ernest Hemingway reading record, a photographic negative depicting Hemingway observing artillery bursts through binoculars during the Spanish Civil War, and a compact disc labeled "Les Royaux Hemingway AA496."
