About this lot

Origin: Teotihuacan, Central Mexico 400-600 AD

Dimensions: 8 in. in diameter x 5.75 in. 

Condition: Light dirt wear, staining, and wear along all pars of the vessel. There is a small crack along the back side near one foot, and there are small chips along the top. 

Additional Information: A handmade earthenware rounded vessel with tripod legs. It has glyphic designs and patterns on the sides with geometric patterns, has has a smooth fired feel with some rough spots from wear. 

This vessel may have been used for chocolate-drinking. The vessel’s style and shape is typical of those made in the kingdom of Namaan. 

The provenance is reportedly Howard Rose, Arte Primitivo.
