Additional Information: Three Guatemalan huipils, which are a traditional blouse worn by Mayan women in Guatemala. It is characterized by its vibrant colors and intricate, geometric designs featuring diamonds and zigzag patterns that have been preserved since the ancient Maya civilization to represent the wearer’s personality, village and social standing. It is handwoven on a back-strap loom and is multiple panels joined with special seams designed for a loose fit.

One can go to any of the numerous villages around the lakes in Guatemala and each village has its own textile and clothing traditions, often different for females and males. From childhood, the spinning of cotton, using textile looms, and contributing to the community are part of the Guatemalan textile tradition.

Two are mostly made up of reds, and one is predominately blue. The blue one measures 26×39 in. and the red one with black trim measures 27×32 in.
