About this lot

Estimated Value: $250-450

Origin: Pre Columbian Colima Tecoman Archaic, West Mexico, ca. 200 BC to 300 AD

Dimensions: The largest measures 3.25x1x5.5 in. 

Condition: Two figures are fully intact, with one having a small chip on its hand. One figure has three of its limbs broken off and unattached other than one arm. And another figure has one of its arms broken off. Each has light wear some have a black spotted pigment wear potentially from being buried. 

Additional Information: Four Colima Tecoman pointed head flat handmade tan clay figures with Jalisco influence.  Each has a gingerbread-like shape with elongated pointed heads and simplified limbs. Each also has holes in their ears potentially having ornamentation at some point. Two All have light wear and some have dark pigmentation spots from wear. And some have some clay built up around their faces to represent jewelry. One particular intact figure has raised bumps and breasts to represent that it is a female and another figure has a small phallus bump representing it is male. 

Colima figures were often placed in tombs as guardians or companions for the deceased.
