About this lot

Origin: Pre Columbian Colima Archaic, West Mexico, ca. 200 BC to 300 AD

Dimensions: The largest measures 3.25x1x5.5 in.

Condition: Two figures are fully intact, with one having a small chip on its foot. The largest figure has its left leg broken off, and the other figure has its torso broken in half, and one arm broken off. 

Additional Information: Four pointed head flat handmade tan clay figures, each has a gingerbread-like shape with elongated pointed heads and simplified limbs. Each also has holes in their ears potentially having ornamentation at some point. Two All have light wear and some have dark pigmentation spots from wear. One of the fully intact figures has orange and black painted pigmentation painted onto its body, with light wear. And some have some clay built up around their faces to represent jewelry. 

Colima figures were often placed in tombs as guardians or companions for the deceased.
