Additional Information: Original vintage Associated Press (AP) Wirephoto documenting the famous Bromley, England “Flying Saucer” incident of September 1967.
This photograph documents one of the most widely reported UFO incidents of the 1960s. On September 4, 1967, several saucer shaped objects were discovered across southern England, attracting international media attention, and prompting responses from police, bomb disposal units, and military authorities before ultimately being revealed as an elaborate prank created by Royal Aircraft Establishment apprentices. Original Associated Press wirephotos from this event are increasingly difficult to locate and are sought after by collectors.
The original AP telephoto caption remains attached to the front and reads in part:
“Mysterious Object Found on Golf Course… Police constable examines object resembling a flying saucer…”
The reverse retains multiple original Associated Press newsroom date stamps, including September 5, 1967, confirming this is an authentic period AP press photograph and not a modern reproduction.
